The end of 2025 was frenetic and stressful, mostly because I have serious impulse control issues. Pumping out NeoTokyo Dead before the manuscript was really ready added to that, but it was a huge learning experience. So, what can be expected from Bryan Beal in 2026?
I have two major projects in the writing at the moment. They both started as short stories and bloomed into full novels. I will be posting one in serialised form exclusively to Neon Nova. It is more a horror comedy and I do get a bit silly with the misadventures of Daryl Hipkis. The other, a much more serious horror, is one I am still thinking about. I have not decided whether to publish the second project only on Neon Nova or as a paperback and eBook in its own right. Whatever happens, these are two projects I really hope to get finished this year.
I have a third project written and I am in the editing process for this one. This is a 55,000 word novel and I am hoping to kick this one out into the wild sometime late in 2026. I still need to do some cover design, work out the blurb, and do all of the other stuff. This one has been read by a couple of readers and comments have been really positive, so I am pretty excited about this one. This is also the most thorough world-building I have done so far, including a system of philosophy based on ancient cultures of the time. Project Three is one about which I am really pumped.
Neon Nova will still be contributed to, but I am not sure how often. I need to get disciplined and actually finish some of the above projects.
Whatever happens in the New Year, I wish you the best year ever and I really hope you have a wonderful year filled with success and dreams fulfilled.
